Uterine Manipulator for dye test and laparoscopy

The traditional uterine manipulators used for checking the patency of the fallopian tubes at laparoscopy and dye test are a Spackmann uterine cannula or a Leech-Wilkinson cannula. There are however limitations with these instruments. The Spackman cannula doesn't result in a tight seal into the cervical canal, such that dye always leaks back into the patient's vagina and beddings. Failure to generate a tight seal and the resulting back flow could also lead to a false diagnosis of blocked tubes as enough dye does not get into the tubes. The Spackman cannula does however have an elongated extension, which aids uterine manipulation. This enables the surgeon to manipulate the uterus and inspect the pelvis. The Leech Wilkinson cannula on the other hand screws into the cervix and has a better seal, but the lack of a distal extension to the device does not enable uterine manipulation

The Atiomo-DyeSeal™ Uterine Manipulator has the advantage of creating a tight seal on the cervix preventing back flow of dye and a distal extension allowing uterine manipulation at laparoscopy and dye test (hydrotubation).
